Effects of pennyroyal (Mentha pulegium L.) dietary supplementation on performance, carcass quality, biochemical parameters and duodenal histomorphology of broilers

In this study, the effects of (Mentha pulegium L.) dietary supplementation on performance, carcass characteristics, some biochemical parameters, and intestinal histology were investigated in broiler chickens. Four groups formed as control treated with pennyroyal at different levels (0.25%, 0.50%, 1.00%). experiment each group had eight replicates. A total 192 broilers used study six replicate. Water feed ad libitum provided. Adding pennyroyals to rations significantly affected performance parameters; an increase final body weight yield a decrease intake conversion rate was observed (P<0.05). Serum cholesterol, malondialdehyde, glutathione values also by addition Pennyroyal effective vitro against S. enteritidis, E. coli, aureus, abortus ovis, B.anthracis sterne strains. Besides, it increased duodenum villus’ length compared On other hand, did not affect visceral organ weights, several serum (P>0.05). As result, concluded that level 0.50% ration health growth broilers.
